Los Feliz all available for you to earn some
elective credit. Classes begin 10/29 so get

Universal Studios hiring C Track Intercession

Universal Studios is hiring C Track students 16 yrs + for
intercession. Go online to www.ushjobs.com and take
the assessment and submit your application. If you
pass, you will be contacted. The see me for a work
permit. Remember 3 D's or F's will disqualify you
for the permit, as well as FBB scores on the CST.

Junior and Senior Lunch Passes Now Ready

Attention 11th graders: If you have passed both sections of the CAHSEE,
you are eligible for a limited 2 day/month lunch pass. See Mr. Haas in
411 for an application which, once approved, comes to my office (rm. 404)
where you can pick up your ticket to culinary liberation.

Attention Seniors: Pick up a senior lunch application in room 411 from
Mr. Haas. Once approved with satisfactory grades, test scores, and atten-
dance, you may see me for the actual pass. Oh, by the way, you do have to
pay your senior dues of $135.

Bank of America at C Track PHABAO Night

Representatives from Bank of America will be at the
parent PHABAO night next Thursday evening from
6:00PM to 8:00PM in the student cafeteria. They
will be available to talk to students and parents
about opening checking and savings accounts as
well as other finance/banking concerns. There will
also be information for students 16 yrs and older
about obtaining employment with B of A as bank
tellers. See you there...DS

B-Track Intercession ROP

Sign up now for an ROP class during B Track Intercession.
We have a class at Hollywood Presb. Hospital worth 20
credits, there are two classes downtown at the courthouse
worth 10 and 15 credits and we have Best Buy /Toy's R Us
over on Los Feliz for 10 credits. Come by room 404 to
sign up with Mr. Snyder or for more information. If you
live out of the Hollywood area there may be a class near
your, so check it out!

Campus Aide position at HHS

Hollywood High has an opening for a campus aide 3/4 hrs/day
The pay is between $9-$10/hr DOE (depending on experience)
Please talk to Mr. Haas, assistant principal at ext. 413 to apply
or for more information. This position is open of course to
high school grads only. Females are encouraged to apply.

New Medical Office Skills class at Metro

Metropolitan Skills Center will be offering a new class in Med Receptionist, Med Insurance
Billing Specialist, and Med Certified Coder. The class begins Sept. 4 and is available to B Track
students who will be off-track. This is FREE training in a growing and lucrative field: receptionists make around $12/hr and a certified coder about $20-$25/hr.

The class is open to seniors only at this time. Metro Skills Center is located on 6th St. right
across from MacArthur Park, so it is not far. If interested, you will need to come by the
office and get a concurrent enrollment form from me. Email me back if interested and if
enough of you respond, I can arrange for the instructor to come down and meet with us
to answer questions, etc.

and must type 40+ wpm Must be avail M-F 3:30-6:30.

Welcome back C Track!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am officially
back on track as of today. Please feel free to call
the office or email me with questions/concerns. If any
recent grads who are 18+ and are interested in a job
traveling around the country as a driver, see me or
call. Job pays $8.50/hr to start and will work into a
full time career, etc. You must be 18 and have a clean
driving/background record.

Seniors Who Do Not Pass CAHSEE

If you're a senior and you don't happen to pass the CAHSEE,
DO NOT STRESS! Of course, you may not be able to participate
in graduation ceremonies, but there is something very cool in
the works for you. The City of LA, particularly the mayor has
funded a program for this summer where you will work in the
morning 4 hours, then attend class in the afternoon designed
to get you to pass the test. The big news is that YOU WILL
GET PAID! (about $1000 for the summer) So don't flip out,
it's gonna be good. You can see me in 404 Wed/Thur for details.

CST Scores and Work Permits

Think the CST doesn't matter? Think again. I'm
finding a LOT of students who simply blew off
the test. With scores of FBB (far below basic)
and BB (below basic) there are now definite re-
percussions. If you have FBB in English you will
NOT get a work permit. If you have BB in English
you will be on probation until the next CST and
if you do not improve to at least a B (basic)
your work permit will be revoked. The reality of
the situation is that so many students just
blew off the test and didn't care. They made
themselves look bad, the teachers look bad, and
the school look bad. Even worse, students with
FBB/BB might have to take remedial classes be-
cause according to these scores, they need ex-
tra help. It would be a shame to get stuck in
something you don't need just because you chose
to be lazy. So just do your best on the test.
If you need a little extra help, you'll get it.
Just don't blow off the test and make yourself
look bad AND not get a work permit.

Summer Internship in Health Field

Kaiser Permanente has a great summer internship (paid)
at the North Hollywood location. The LAUNCH Summer Youth
Employment Program has 12 openings beginning July 5 for
8 weeks. Pay is $8/hr and you will be working in a labora-
tory environment as assistants, lab techs, etc which include
clerical duties. TB and drug test required as well as a health
review/immunizations. Call Corine Motley or Elizabeth Aguilar

Senior Portfolios

If you're C Track and did not turn in a senior
portfolio through your senior English class, then
you may turn it in to me on Wed/Thurs in room 404.
If you did not get a portfolio folder from your
English teacher, I have a few available. Remember,
you need a resume and a cover letter of introduction.
The portfolio is required to participate in the gradu-
ation ceremony. You will get a copy of your academic
transcript and a voter registration form. A/B Track
will get portfolios through their senior English class
when the folders arrive, so be looking out.

C Track Intercession ROP

If you're on C Track and haven't signed up for ROP and
need credits, or just want to do something during inter-
cession, then "see me for ROP." We have two classes down-
town at the courthouse, a class at Hollywood Presb Hospital,
and a class at Best Buy/Toys R Us in Atwater over on Los
Feliz Bl. Between 10-20 credits can be earned. See me in
room 404 to get enrolled. I'm currently off track, but
available on Wed and Thurs all day.

Starbucks Job Fair

I just got this one so forgive the lateness of the hour. Starbucks will be
having a Job Fair this Friday 4/20 at one of the downtown locations at 11th and
Grand. Address is 1101 S. Grand Ave. It's from 2:30 to 4:30 so you could make
the tail end of it if you hustle. Starbucks is a great employer who will
provide health benefits after you have worked there for a while. I'm sure
you can get all the details at the Fair. Good Luck!

FAA Career Opportunity

Here is a great opportunity for high school seniors and college students interested in
a career in aviation. Applicants must be under 31 years of age. The Federal Aviation
Association is taking applications for air traffic controller school. The only require
ment is a high school diploma, and credit is given for college on the exam. With some
effort, a controller can reach the salary of over $100,000 in three years. For details

C Track Intersession ROP

Hey C Track: time to start thinking about making up some of those elective credits
you're missing. We have a class at the Hollywood Presb Hospital for 20 credits, two
clases downtown at the LA Superior Court for 10 and 15 credits and classes in retail
merchandising at the Beverly Connection, Toys R Us on Los Feliz, and other locations
near and far. Come to room 404 to sign up now, get your registration slip, and get
back in the game! If you're behind, don't stress. Come and talk to me and we'll get
a game plan... Remember if you're in a hole, STOP DIGGING! Time to get lifted! ROP
is also available to those who just want to acquire new job skills and meet new people.
The age limit is 16, but I may be able to help you 15 year olds too.

Job Opportunity for Grad Seniors

The Academy of Business Leadership is now accepting applications for its summer 2007 program. ABL is open to all A Track students and all graduating seniors. If you are interested in business, finance, real estate, etc. this is an excellent program housed at USC, UCLA, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State LA, and Santa Monica College where
you are immersed in the world of $ and business. Past participants have told me what a great program it is putting together business plans, learning business software and just networking with real business professionals. It is an unpaid internship, but the
skills you will acquire are like money in the bank. See me for an application in room 404 as soon as possible. Also sign up for a lunch time presentation with a representa-
tive from ABL.

Job, internships, etc

Hey 14/15 yr olds: HBT (Hollywood Beautification Team) will hire you during your intercession break. You must live in the following zip codes: 90028, 90038, 90004 90057, and 90026. HBT does tree planting, graffiti removal, and general community
clean up. The pay is $7.50 an hour and is open to all who live in the aforementioned
zip codes. See me in room 404 if interested.

The 2006 LA Board of Public Works has a paid internship for current A Track juniors
or graduating seniors this summer July/Aug. The internship is 6 weeks and focuses on
architecture, construction, and engineering. The application deadline is April 20th so see me in 404 for an application.

The Washington Mutual HIP, High School Internship Program, is now recruiting for next year. You must be a current junior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The internship is paid and you will work 18 hrs./week while on track and full time
while off. You will train as a bank teller in a very demanding internship which will
put you far ahead of your peers in terms of experience and maturity. We have had
many successful interns in this program over the years, so only those who have a
genuine interest in banking and finance need apply.

The LA County Sheriffs Dept is recruiting high school seniors for positions after
graduation as Custody Assistants, working in the jails. The position is full time
with a great salary and benefits for those interested in law enforcement. A manda-
tory test will be administered 4/12 at 4:00 PM. See me for more details.
