Workplace Hollywood

Are you a diverse high school student interested

The Saban Research Institute of Children's Hospital
has summer internships available to current juniors
with a 3.0 and above. You must also have a strong in-
terest in science and be dedicated to the program.
The summer internship is paid.  See me for more

Architecture/Engineering Summer Internship

The iSee Architecture & Engineering Internship Program 
is now recruiting juniors and seniors for positions starting
in January 2010.  If you are interested in construction, archi-
tecture and engineering, this is a really interesting program.
There are classes to take and a PAID summer job in an en-

AFOC Earn Credits, Acquire a Skill

Evening and Saturday classes are available at Abram Friedman Occupational Center
downtown at 17th and Olive.  For a complete list of Industrial and Business 
Technologies available, see me in room 404.  This is free job training that can 
help you acquire skills that can get you PAID... we're talking above minimum
wage. Academic elective credit is also given at the rate of 2.5 credits for each
24 hours of class time attended.  Enrollment is continuous so you can start at
any time, so why wait?

Welcome back. I hope all of you have noticed that your work
permits have expired.  You need to see me to renew. Come by
room 404 for a request form.  ROP is about to begin Sept. 21,
so see me to sign up. The class offerings have been reduced to
one class at the Beverly Connection, and one at the Best Buy
Toys "R Us over on Los Feliz near Griffith Park. There are
classes available on Saturday at community locations and 
at Abram Friedman Occ Center downtown.  Again, see me
for applications.

As far as the job situation, well you know things are a bit
slow, but NOT impossible. I have many jobs listed on the
board in my room, so come on down. 

If you are a senior and live in the Hollywood area, Ms. Sommers
might have a job for you through the WIA program. She is in
her office on Tues and Thurs mornings. (nutrition is a good time)
She has about 30 positions available.

Mayor's Summer Job Program

The mayor's office will be sponsoring jobs this summer
here at Hollywood High. Please see Ms Sommers in
room 404 on Tuesdays and Thursdays before 4th period
for an application. This program is open to all students
age 14 and above. You will work here at HHS or possibly
at a local elementary school. Again, see Ms. Sommers in
room 404 preferably before Nutrition.

Summer Intern at Constitutional Rights Foundation

Paid summer internship still available at the Constitutional Rights
Foundation. You must be in 10th or 11th grade and be available for
7 weeks this summer. Internships in the following fields: law,
health, entertainment, arts, business, human services, and govern-

Summer Programs '09

Those of you who applied for the LA Dept of Water and Power
summer internship, please be advised that your application is
due this Fri. April 24; that is, it must be received by Friday.
So, get it mailed ASAP. I still have applications for the
Hollywood Bowl summer season. See me in room 404.
Also, any of you have PhotoShop skills and want to work,
see me asap. I have several jobs open at $10/hr in close
proximity down on Melrose. You will be doing touch up/
clean up work on old movie and TV photo stills. The
hours are flexible and the business stays open in the

The Constitutional Rights Foundation is still accepting
applications for their PAID summer internship. You
will be working in a community based organization,
and will attend leadership training seminars, all

Nordstrom's Fashion Board

Anyone with an interest in fashion should sign up for the Nordstrom's Fashion Board
at the Grove. Learn about the fashion business, marketing, etc. Monthly meetings are
required after school and selected fashion events will find you paid at least minimum
wage. Modeling positions are also available for the events. So, if you have an interest
in fashion and modeling, sign up in room 404. Nordstrom's will then come out and
do a detailed in service about the program and answer questions.

Summer Internships 09

Hey everybody! Sorry we haven't been up in a while...technical difficulties.
But, we're back. A couple of summer internships are available, one you've
probably heard about with the City of Los Angeles Public Works Dept;
that application is due March 27. The other one is fairly new and is in
the health services/medical related field. It is also a paid situation at
Kaiser Permanente. A required orientation session must be attended
Mar. 10 at 4:PM at the LA Chamber of Commerce, 350 Bixel St. LA

Internships Available

Hey friends, got a lot of internship type things jumping off! Check it
out, for the summer, if you are interested in architecture, engineering,
and construction, a paid internship with the Dept. of Public Works
City of LA July 6 thru August 14, training sessions, workshops, field

Next, we have an internship available in the Bio-Med field doing
research in a laboratory setting. Must have excellent grades in
science, be motivated and a senior. Paper applications avail in

If you're interested in the entertainment business, Sony Pictures
has a summer program (non-production) working in the business
side of the industry. Must have at least a 3.0 gpa be proficient on
Excel and Powerpoint... application is at www.sonypicturesjobs.com

And then finally on the creative side, Inner City Filmakers has a
summer program for those of you interested in filmaking and
cinematography at www.innercityfilmakers.com for an application.
